About
Hey! I’m Tony, the human behind LapseBraindead.com.
This site is a digital sandbox where I document my experiments with technology, coding, AI video generation, and occasionally electronics repair. Sometimes I write about serious topics like faith and family; other times I write about deterring rats or fixing vintage capacitors.
Basically, if it involves learning something new or fixing something broken, it probably ends up here.
Why “LapseBraindead”?
It’s a place to lob thoughts, ideas, and brain‑noodles into the void of the internet. Sometimes I write serious things. Sometimes I start typing and accidentally summon philosophical monsters. It’s all part of the charm.
(Want the full backstory? You can read the Complete History of [LAPSE... brain dead] here.)
The Human Behind the Code
I’ve spent most of my life working in technical and creative roles, which means half the things I write about involve code and the other half involve fixing something I probably shouldn’t have taken apart in the first place. I started out entering programs from Family Computing on my aunt’s Apple ][e (now mine), graduated to an IBM PCjr with a “Hands‑On BASIC” book, and eventually ended up writing FORTRAN for nuclear power plant monitoring systems.
After that chapter, I worked on everything from satellite tracking and visual recognition systems to military risk‑assessment tools and healthcare claims automation — a strange but useful mix that shapes how I approach modern AI, automation, and the occasional harebrained side project.
What You’ll Find Here
Most days I’m experimenting with AI tools, building small automations, tinkering with hardware, or documenting whatever odd project has taken over my brain that week. Sometimes it’s a coding walkthrough. Sometimes it’s a fitness update. Sometimes it’s a philosophical detour I didn’t see coming.
How I Approach This Site
I like to build in public. Everything here is something I’ve actually tested, broken, fixed, or learned the hard way. No filler, no AI‑slop — just real, human‑verified experiments in a world where a lot of content feels automated and disposable. And humor — I love humor. You’ll see it pop up a lot around here.
If you’re here, thank you — truly. My hope is that you find something useful, interesting, or at least entertaining along the way.
