Thus, the birth of the cinnamon raisin for pepper turkey sandwich! Okay, so I only went in halfway, with a single slice of bread and a half sandwich. It wasn't horrible.
Yeah, it wasn't my preferred or best sandwich ever. But then again, people eat raisins and cranberries with turkey at Thanksgiving, right? Raisins showing up in some people's stuffing. (Note: I don't like stuffing.) Anyway, the sandwich was kind of a sweet and spicy thing: sweet on the front, pepper on the back (actually enhancing the raisins' sweetness), and my taste buds negotiating a truce in the middle. And, yes, I ate the whole (half) sandwich.
Inspiration? Absurdspiration? They can do with what's in my pantry? Just me being me? Would you try it?
Once upon a time I also either made or had my wife make these "spicy sriracha caramel chicken rice krispy treats" - and, I actually liked it. Now, I like "regular ol'" rice krispy treats better, of course, but still. Sadly, few else at the family Christmas Cookie Exchange gathering did... but, hey, more for me! (Note: they're not particularly "crispy" when made this way.)
Back to the sandwich: would I make it again? Only if the pantry demands it — but I regret nothing.
