Shameless Plug: I Wrote Some Books

See all my books on Amazon .

So, I am an author now. Or, at least I like to think I am. Yes, I already mentioned that I have been a published author for a long time (in my The Dogs of Draaken post), but this time I actually get paid for my books. Well, if anyone would buy them, I would; but I only make about $1 or so per copy, so I won't be buying a yacht just yet!

I've launched four titles so far. Three of them are children's books (but at least Tabletop Dinoland, if not all of them, is pretty much for any age kid, from one to ninety-two as the Christmas Song says):

  • Tabletop Dinoland - the one that started it all (well, recently re-started my authorship)
  • Tabletop Dinoland: The Dino Alphabet Book: Yes, P is for Pterodactyl. I know it's technically a pterosaur and not a dinosaur, but what self-respecting dinosaur alphabet book could resist?
  • Bitty the Algorithm: Hopefully the first in a series that teaches kids about logic and problem-solving in fun ways.
And one for the adults:
  • The AI-Powered Blogger: Write Faster, Write Better, Stress Less: Don't let the title fool you; this applies to pretty much all modern writing (reports, articles, ad copy). It teaches you how to integrate AI into your workflow to increase your speed, expand your audience, and turn a single post into a whole ecosystem of traffic.

All of these are self-published via Kindle Direct Publishing on Amazon (so, no, you can't currently buy these in a bookstore or at Barnes & Noble; the Amazon KDP was pretty easy to use, although I struggled with the Bitty layout for quite a while before giving up on "full bleed" and switching it to non-bleed print format). I'm working on a few more titles at the moment, too.

Why am I telling you all of this?

First, I want you to give me money - but to get something in return. A book! Or even, if you have Kindle Unlimited, maybe just flip through all the pages (I'll get credit for that, and maybe a few cents). Or, if you prefer, you can just give me money for nothing - I'll take it that way, too.

Second, I'm kind of proud of it. Especially the... well, all of it, really. Tabletop Dinoland was inspired by a combination of my wife's silly antics of moving around the little plastic dinosaurs I'd set up on the kitchen table (after some of my grandsons left them out), and it became a game, eventually a social media series of pictures and captions, and my Aunt (Reba) suggested (requested? commanded?) that I turn it into a book. It also turned into a YouTube video:

Third, maybe you've got a book idea, and wondered how you might publish it. It's much easier now than you might think. No wrangling with publishers, or submitting huge, physically typed/printed manuscripts - just go to the Kindle Direct Publishing link and follow the steps there to format and upload your manuscript to Amazon for "print on demand" fulfillment. And, no, I don't need to have a slice of your revenue stream when your book becomes a multi-national best-seller while mine languish unsold in the digital realms of Amazon's self-publishing wasteland. But maybe send me some free money if you get really rich? Or at least buy one of my books as a thank-you?

Anyway, if you have some ideas of what I should write next (after my next books are done - I'm still working on a few ideas, both kid and non-kid books), let me know (comment, email, shout really loudly). Maybe you'll get mentioned in the dedication.
